Poetes Fysiks

poetes fysiks 1

Ken and Ngongull Kiz, both natives of Gabon, founded Poetes Fysiks guided by the noble values of hip-hop and an unfaltering faith in the power of the movement. The duo’s title conjures their success in two parts: “Poetes” alludes to their poetic ability, and “Fysiks” alludes to their powerful stage presence. Prior to creating Poetes Fysks, Ken and Ngongull were part of their own rap groups in Gabon; “The Syndikat of Kava” and “The Block of K Siks” respectively. The two rappers joined creative forces, and in 2008, while on the road to Mali, they settled in Burkina Faso, where their music quickly caught fire.   While preparing for their 2010 performance at the renowned Waga Hip Hop festival, the duo is noticed by Belgian label SameSame and signed for a production contract. Shortly after, labels Stay Calm and Nomadic Wax followed suit, having noticed Poetes Fysiks’ impressive delivery. Poetes Fyziks returned to the studio that same year to record their album Une vie, une douleur, une victoire (A life, a pain, a victory.) The album has had success throughout African and Europe and will be available in the United States on March 6, 2012 via Nomadic Wax.
